LONDON – The U.S. dollar was lower against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at $1.4772, up from $1.4712 late Wednesday in New York.

 109.11 Japanese yen, down from 109.65

 1.0919 Swiss francs, down from 1.0982

 1.0456 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0482

The British pound was quoted at $1.8373, up from $1.8332.

Gold traded in London at $832.00 per troy ounce, up from $827.00 late Wednesday.
