Defendants indicted in Javon Walker robbery case

LAS VEGAS – A Nevada grand jury has increased charges against two men accused of abducting, beating and robbing Javon Walker after the NFL player spent a night club-hopping.

A judge increased bail Wednesday to $500,000 for Arfat Abdo Fadel and set arraignment for Sept. 4 for Fadel and Deshawn Lamont Thomas, who remains jailed on $1 million bail.

Lawyers for both men say they will plead not guilty and seek lower bail.

Prosecutor Joshua Tomsheck says both men now could face life in prison on the most serious charge in the indictment: first-degree kidnapping with substantial bodily harm. They also face robbery, battery and conspiracy charges.

Police allege the 31-year-old Fadel and 40-year-old Thomas talked Walker into getting into their vehicle June 16 outside the Bellagio resort.

The Oakland Raiders receiver was found later, robbed and beaten unconscious on a side street off the Las Vegas Strip.
