Barrett: Closed.

Chollas: Stocked with trout last week by the DFG. Open daily to youngsters 15 and under. San Diego Fly Fishers sponsors a Lend-A-Rod program on Sundays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and it includes free bait and tackle and fishing tips.

Cuyamaca: Jess Ranch trout providing good action here. DFG stocked last week, too. Shawn Wyatt, San Diego, 15-9 sturgeon, night crawler, West Finger Jetty. Timothy Bliss, Ramona, 3-8 trout, Power Bait-Power Worm combo, Lone Pine Tree. Marica Palomares, San Diego, 3-6 trout, night crawler, Chambers Park. Mikhael Farhat, San Diego, 3-0 trout, Lone Pine Tree. Stephen Chickos, San Diego, 3-5 trout, Power Bait-Power Worm combo, Dike area. Tony Trvong, San Diego, 2-9 trout, Power Bait-night crawler combo, Lone Pine. Private boats now are allowed on the lake, but the boats must be sprayed for quagga mussels by a high-pressure heated wash prior to entering the lake. Cost is $10 for the spraying and it's good for multiple trips to Cuyamaca so long as the boat is not used in another reservoir in between visits. Open daily.

Diamond Valley Lake: Trout due this week, with 1,000 pounds set for the lake. Trout fishing has been fair. Stephen Kayczas of Hemet, 3.03-pound trout, red, white and blue Power Bait. Open daily. Launch ramp closed until further notice.

Dixon: The 30th Annual Trout Derby is on until tomorrow. Big fish landed in the first three days of the derby, with trout planted up to 12 pounds from the Chalk Mound Trout Ranch in western Nebraska. Open daily.

El Capitan: The 97 anglers checked reported 55 bass (all released), 30 crappie, 3 blue catfish and 2 bluegill. Fall schedule with Thursdays and Fridays open for fishing, general boating and water contact activities (water-skiing, wake-boarding, Jet Skiing, towing inflatables in the front bay only); Saturdays and Sundays open for fishing, boating and water contact activities (in both the front bay and North Arm); Mondays are open for fishing and general boating only. Rental boats are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Sundays they stop renting boats at 10 a.m. All persons entering reservoir property must purchase a day use permit.

Henshaw: Open daily.

Hodges: Closed.

Jennings: A few nice trout caught, but other than that, slow. Night crawlers producing good numbers of catfish. Ricky Nejig, 9, Morgan Hill, 2-4 bluegill, crawdad, Eagle Point. Another 1,000 pounds of trout due this week. The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University offers a bait fishing class Sunday at 1 p.m. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Loveland: The 46 anglers reported no bass kept, 12 bass (released), 1 channel catfish. Open daily to hike-in fishing only on a limited area of shoreline. No permits required. Fishing license is required.

Miramar: Open daily to fishing and boating. Pay fees at iron ranger or electronic pay station near the concession building.

Morena: Trout season starts in early December. Until then, plenty of action for catfish, bluegill. An 8-pound channel catfish topped the catches last week. Gary Carmel and Don Wright of Lake Morena, stringer of 9 channel catfish, averaging 2.5 pounds each, worms, near the dam. Devin Connell of Lake Morena, 3-pound channel catfish, chicken liver, Horseshoe Cove. Tommy Bossard, Jacumba, 5-10 channel catfish, mackerel, Cabin Cove. Steve Martin, El Cajon, stringer of five channel catfish, chicken liver, near the dam. Larry Rogers of El Cajon, stringer of 5 channel catfish, near the dam. Open daily.

Murray: Stocked with trout by the DFG last week. Open daily to fishing and boating. Pay fees at iron rangers near the abandoned concession building or at key access points.

Otay, Lower: Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Pay fees at iron rangers near the boat launch and abandoned concession building. Boats now available for rent.

Otay, Upper: Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for fishing, sunrise to sunset. Upper Otay is a catch and release only fishery. Bait is not permitted, only artificial lures with barbless hooks. Boats are not permitted on Upper Otay, only shore fishing, waders and float tubes.

Poway: Trout season opened Friday with spotty fishing, but it improved throughout the weekend. Best spot was in the northern corner where the Log Boom meets the shoreline. There were many limits in that corner, with the best baits being gold Kastmasters, crappie jigs and spoons. Stefan Guintoli, 8.4 trout, spoon, Half Moon Bay. Flor Abena, 6.3 trout, crappie jig, Half Moon Bay. Tony Tran, San Diego, 4 trout, 14.2 pounds total, gold Kastmaster, Log Boom. Open Wednesday through Sunday. In order to prevent the introduction and infestation of quagga mussels, the following items are prohibited at Lake Poway: float tubes, private motors and anchors, live bait containers, fish finders, floating catch baskets, live bait from any source other than the Lake Poway concession, any items the staff considers to be potential contaminants.

Santee Lakes: The lakes drew 750 anglers for Saturday's trout opener. Action was a bit slow, but Lake 4 did turn out an 11-pound, 12-ounce rainbow to Benjamin Jenkins of Lakeside and a 10-pound, 5-ouncer to Charlie Luke of Santee over the weekend. Only 3 of the 40 tagged trout were caught. Casey Green and Nader Suliman of San Diego, 7-8 trout, Power Bait, Lake 3. Noah Bailey, 6, Santee, 3-8 tagged trout, rainbow Power Bait, Lake 4. Bailey won a Mitchell rod and reel combo. Don Blades, Lakeside, 2-5 tagged trout, Power Bait, Lake 3, earning a sleeping bag and a year's subscription to Western Outdoor News. Steve Lopez, Santee, 6-0 trout, rainbow Power Bait, Lake 4. Eli Serrano, Imperial Beach, two trout, largest a 6-0. Hunter Brown, 11, La Mesa, 2-8 trout, Power Bait, Lake 4. It was the young man's first fish ever, and it also had a tag on it worth an Outdoor Products Backpack. Daniel Lasalle, Lemon Grove, 3-0 trout, Lake 3. Charles Edmondson, San Diego, 2-5 channel catfish, mackerel and stinkbait, Lake 5. Next trout plant is on or before Nov. 21. Check www.santeelakes.com. Open daily.

San Vicente: Closed. For construction schedules and information on the Emergency Storage Project, go to the San Diego County Water Authority's web site at www.sdcwa.org and click on San Vicente Dam Raise.

Skinner: Trout opener here was very good with anglers reporting good action on spinners and marshmallow-night crawler combos. Striped bass also getting into it, with some 3-to 4-pounders caught.

Sutherland: Closed to fishing, open to waterfowl hunters Thursdays and Sundays.

Sweetwater: The 49 anglers reported two bass kept (6 bass released), 10 carp, 12 channel catfish, with most in the 5-to 10-pound range. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday to limited shoreline fishing only.

Wohlford: Trout season starts Dec. 13 with a plant of 4,500 pounds. Channel catfish remain active despite the water cool down. Jesus Gomez, Escondido, 6-2 channel catfish, Senior Shoreline. Bob Steilen, Carlsbad, 5-4 channel catfish, mackerel, West Buoy Line. Jerry Harris, Riverside, two large crappie, each at 2-8, golden shiners, Boat Dock Cove. Open daily.

Trout stocking schedule: Jennings, 1,000 pounds. DFG stocks Doane Pond this week.

Pt. Loma Sportfishing, H&M Landing, Fisherman's Landing:

Seaforth: 25 anglers, one half-day boat: 24 bonito, 7 calico, 2 sand bass, 34 rockfish, 3 whitefish, 7 sheephead, 5 sculpin, 75 mackerel.

Oceanside:13 anglers, one three-quarter-day boat: 11 sand bass, 5 sculpin, 1 bonito, 25 mackerel. 65 anglers, two half-day boats: 13 sculpin, 108 rockfish, 11 vermillion rock, 34 whitefish, 1 sole, 7 mackerel, 14 sand dabs.

Cabo San Lucas: Annual Billfish Bonanza is on as marlin migrating around the corner of the Sea of Cortez. This is the optimum time to catch a striped marlin off Cabo. The Fish Cabo Fleet, on 14 trips, reported 74 striped marlin, all released with 1 sailfish, 17 dorado and 5 yellowfin tuna. Tuna Time was the high boat with 26 released marlin at the Golden Gate in one day of fishing.

Waterfowl Hunting: City Lakes: Barrett: 32 hunters, 43 ducks, mostly ruddys (25) and mallards (7). Sutherland, 3 hunters, no ducks. Wister Unit of the Imperial Wildlife Area: Wed., 62 hunters, 70 ducks, 12 geese (five cackling, four snow and three Aleutian cago). Sat., 175 hunters, 58 ducks, four snow geese. Sun, 89 hunters, 99 ducks, eight snow geese and three Ross' geese.

Deer Hunting: Jim Goetz, forked horn buck.
