Barrett: Closed.

Chollas: Ranger Bill Roder at Chollas Lake reports that youngsters there are catching good numbers of trout and catfish. The 53 kids reported 45 rainbow trout and 12 channel catfish. Power Bait is the bait of choice. Avery Jones had the largest trout, a 4-pounder, and Casey Jones landed the top channel catfish, a 5-pounder. Open daily to youngsters 15 and under. San Diego Fly Fishers sponsors a Lend-A-Rod program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays, and it includes free bait and tackle and fishing tips.

Cuyamaca: Private boats now are allowed on the lake, but the boats must be sprayed for quagga mussels by a high-pressure heated wash prior to entering the lake. Cost is $10 for the spraying and it's good for multiple trips to Cuyamaca so long as the boat is not used in another reservoir in between visits. Open daily.

Diamond Valley Lake: Open daily. Launch ramp closed until further notice due to low water.

Dixon: Stocked this week with 1,500 pounds of Chalk Mound Trout Ranch rainbows from Nebraska. Lake received 4,500 pounds of rainbows last week for its 30th Annual Trout Derby. The Derby was a huge success, with lots of trout caught in the 6-to 8-pound range. Edward Negron of Imperial Beach won this year's grand prize in the Derby with a 7½-pound rainbow trout. He baited a Power Worm in Trout cove for the trophy rainbow. David Escoboga of Fallbrook won the adult division with a 6.62-pound trout caught in Trout Cove on green Power Bait. Roy Beck of Oceanside won the Senior Division with a 6.82-pound trout in Trout Cove on yellow Power Bait. Zach Green baited a night crawler in Whisker Bay to win the Youth Division with a 6.69-pound trout. Open daily.

El Capitan: The 211 anglers checked reported 65 bass kept (108 bass released), 151 bluegill, 51 crappie, 1 channel catfish and 1 blue catfish. Fall schedule with with Thursdays and Fridays open for fishing, general boating and water contact activities (front bay only); Saturdays and Sundays open for fishing, boating and water contact activities (in both the front bay and North Arm); Mondays are open for fishing and general boating only. Rental boats are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Sundays boat rentals stop at 10 a.m. All persons entering reservoir property must purchase a day use permit.

Henshaw: Open daily.

Hodges: Closed.

Jennings: Bigger fish biting, but fishing overall was slow. Another batch of Mt. Lassen trout due this week (1,000 pounds). J.R. Raguindin, National City, who was camping, 12-0 channel cat, Sentry Point, mackerel-chicken liver combo. Jerad Jerauld, La Mesa, 11-4 cat, mackerel, Buoy Line. Matty Davis, 7, El Cajon, 1-7 and 2-7 rainbows, pink Power Bait, Hermit Cove. Fred Cooke, El Cajon, 4-4 trout,inflated night crawler, Shadow Cove. Linda Lohoefener, La Mesa, 4-4 channel cat, mackerel, Half Moon Cove. Sean Wilson, San Diego, 2-7 rainbow, inflated night crawler, Hermit Buoy Line. Salim Sawaya and his son, Zach, El Cajon, 5 trout, 11-5 total, inflated night crawlers, Cactus Patch. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Best time to catch channel catfish and bass are early and late. The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Loveland: Open daily to hike-in fishing only on a limited area of shoreline. No permits required. Fishing license is required.

Miramar: Lake was stocked with 2,000 pounds of channel catfish on Nov. 5. Open daily to fishing and boating. Pay fees at iron ranger or electronic pay station near the concession building.

Morena: Open daily.

Murray: Lake was stocked with 2,000 pounds of channel catfish on Nov. 6 and 1,800 pounds of rainbow trout by the DFG on Nov. 7. Open daily to fishing and boating. Pay fees at iron rangers near the abandoned concession building or at key access points.

Otay, Lower: Lake was stocked with 3,000 pounds of channel catfish on Nov. 3. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Pay fees at iron rangers near the boat launch and abandoned concession building. Boats now available for rent.

Otay, Upper: Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for fishing, sunrise to sunset. Upper Otay is a catch and release only fishery. Bait is not permitted, only artificial lures with barbless hooks. Boats are not permitted on Upper Otay, only shore fishing, waders and float tubes.

Poway: Ranger Steve November reports that the hot, unseasonable windy weather has slowed fishing. The hot spot remains the corner where the Log Boom meets the shoreline across from the boat dock. November said there were “many limits in that corner.” Best action reported on gold Kastmasters, crappie jigs and spoons. Another 1,500 pounds of Chalk Mound Trout Ranch rainbows due this week, including some trophy-sized fish. Open Wednesday through Sunday. In order to prevent the introduction and infestation of quagga mussels, the following items are prohibited at Lake Poway: float tubes, private motors and anchors, live bait containers, fish finders, floating catch baskets, live bait from any source other than the Lake Poway concession, any items the staff considers to be potential contaminants.

Santee Lakes: Best fishing for big trout in the county. Lake officials report that after a few slow days of fishing, the trout bite is on. Fishermen have checked in 15 of 40 tags from the tagged rainbows. Anyone catching a trout 5 pounds or larger is eligible for the season-end drawing for a flat screen TV. Top fish went to Jeff Brownell, who landed a 13-pound trout on a night crawler out of Lake 3. Michelle Ellias, 12-5 trout, Power Bait, Lake 3. Tomas Ross, 12-0 trout, Power Bait, Lake 3. San Vicente: Closed. For construction schedules and information on the Emergency Storage Project, go to the San Diego County Water Authority's web site at sdcwa.org and click on San Vicente Dam Raise.

Sutherland: Closed to fishing, open to waterfowl hunters Thursdays and Sundays.

Sweetwater: Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday to limited shoreline fishing only.

Wohlford: Lake is open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 13, after which it will be open daily and stocked regularly with rainbow trout. Dock closes daily at 4:30 p.m. Lake will receive 4,500 pounds of rainbow trout before Dec. 13. Water level remains very low. No private boats allowed due to fear that quagga mussels may infiltrate the lake. Open daily.

Trout stocking schedule: Jennings, Santee Lakes, each stocked with 1,000 pounds of trout.

Catfish stocking schedule:

Pt. Loma Sportfishing, H&M Landing, Fisherman's Landing: Nine anglers, one half-day boat: 1 sand bass, 2 calico bass, 4 sculpin, 1 sheephead, 21 rockfish.

Seaforth: 39 anglers, two half-day boats: 89 red rock cod, 82 rockfish, 31 whitefish, 2 sheephead, 6 sculpin.

Oceanside: Eight anglers, one three-quarter-day boat: 12 rockfish, 16 vermillion rock, 8 bocaccio.

Noteworthy: Hunting: City Lakes waterfowl: Barrett, 28 hunters, 44 ducks (mostly ruddys, 11). At the Wister Unit of the Imperial Wildlife Area, on Wednesday: 78 hunters, 69 ducks and 4 snow geese; Saturday: 126 hunters, 73 ducks, 1 Canada goose, 12 snow geese and 5 Ross' geese. Sunday, 50 hunters, 10 ducks, 7 snow geese. A junior pheasant hunt held at Wister drew 11 junior hunters who shot 20 pheasants.

Albacore: La Mesa's Steve Bovee and Jeff Petit fished on Sunday at the 213 Bank on Bovee's boat, the “O Strike,” and found good fishing for albacore. “It's hard to top fresh albacore on the grill and $2.50 per gallon diesel when earlier in the year it was up to $5.50 per gallon.
